Wilma, tell us little about yourself?
My name is Wilma Lidén and I am 18 years old. Born and raised in Jakobsberg (Stockholm), but have roots from France, I am working as an actor.
I consider myself as a very driven person with a huge passion for acting. Personal improvement is something I highly value. Life is hard, nothing comes free. Behind every successful human being lies hard work. My mindset is one of the key components behind my success. A strong belief in my abilities has become a very important trait particularly for an industry where a strong psyche is required.
Why did you choose an acting career?
During my childhood I was a very unruly child and had family issues. Imitating other individuals was, already at that time, something I thought was very funny.. it just came naturally. I always had high ambitions of pursuing an acting career. With a background from the music industry where all family members are musicians it sounded a bit strange. They were aware about the actor industry and all the high standards imposed on every single individual. On the other hand if you succeed, there are excellent opportunities to create a good buzz around yourself and easily get new film roles. Later on by chance at age of 7 i saw a random advertisement at the back of an old milk carton from a random casting website. Despite my family's scepticism I managed to convince them to sign me up. IKEA had at that time advertised a new leading role in their advertising, which I happened to get. A combination of a strong work ethic and will led to a path of success such as roles in Torpederna (Tv4), SVT Barn and ”Storm på lugna gatan” the Swedish television’s Christmas Calendar. Other television productions on my Resumé are ”Hassel”, “Gåsmamman”, ”Heder”, ”Morden i Sandhamn” and “Maria Wern”.
You have been involved in film productions such as “Storm på lugna gatan”(SVT 2018 Christmas Advent Calendar ), C More series "Heder". What can a day at work look like?
A typical day at work can be getting up in the morning, often very early and waiting for the runner to pick you up. Afterwards you go to the office, where they put your makeup on, bring you clothes, meanwhile one drinks coffee and after that you go to the set. The waiting times are usually long, fortunately there are always individuals to talk to, so it never gets boring. Every day differs, some days you wait 5 hours for a 2 minute-scene, other times you do all scenes over the course of one day. The locations where we record can vary a lot, someday you record at a school, next week could for example be in a church.
Are you up to date with a new film/TV production? If so, tell us a little bit what we can expect from it?
I am currently recording a secret project. I can't tell you further, because there is no public information yet available about it.
Do you have a favorite actor role model and why? I always get this type of question... It feels like everyone has a role model, but I never had one. You need to take a broader perspective, by building your own personal brand, a copy is never remembered. However, I can't deny that there are many talented actors out there, but as I mentioned before “I'm not going to become the next Alicia Wikander, I’m going to become Wilma Lidén”.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years, any special achievement you want to fulfill?
In 10 years I see myself as an actor with a strong resumé. You should always set the bar high, like winning the Oscar Award.
By checking your Instagram feed one can see that you have an interest in clothes, where do you get inspiration from?
I don’t take inspiration from any specific person but I have gone through some fashion phases.
It all started in Jakobsberg at elementary school, everyone dressed very basic. Having a musical background from home led me to apply for the Adolf Fredrik School of Music, where I subsequently got approved. As a result, the timing to become a new person with my own style was perfect. In 4th grade, I started to sew my own clothes, with the desire to be unique at all costs. Somehow, I went back to the “girly phase” like everyone else. The look I have today has its origins from my last year in elementary school.
Nowadays I don’t feel the same need to stand out as before. I prefer to be something in the middle. Not a basic dressed girl although I don’t prefer standing out just for the sake of it.
Three garments that are always in your closet?
Eytys pants, the model Bentz! I actually purchased a new pair last week haha.. A pair of Buffalos! The only shoes I wear! And a colorful top/bag.
Where do you prefer to go on holiday?
A very easy question, Paris of course!
