One of our all time favourite cities in the world is undoubtedly Paris, sitting in a bistro and eating and drinking well is pure enjoyment. So since we can’t really go to Paris, we will create the same experience in our favourite Stockholm bistro, Bistro Arsenalen.
We arrived at 5.00 pm on a Friday and Stockholm is really showing off its good side, finally some sun light, things feel hopeful. As always we start, in a true Parisian manner, with two coupe de champagne. Two glasses of Pol Roger and we can immediately feel how the past week´s ups and downs just merge into one single warm and comforting feeling of a nice weekend ahead.
As we sip our champagne we decided to share 6 oysters, in our opinion a perfect combination and great to get your appetite going.
For starters we took the foie gras on brioche with hazelnuts and apple compote and the very tasty tuna tartar ”nicoise”, the tartar is a perfect interpretation of the famed salad and it will draw your mind to the french Rivera and lunches in the sun for a brief moment, pure pleasure.
Following the two excellent starters, we decided to have the entrecôte with sauce béarnaise, tomato salad and french fries plus some haricot verts, and the tartar ”Arsenalen” which is the restaurant’s´s interpretation of the classic tartar. Both dishes were absolute sublime, just what we wanted. To this we drank a lovely red wine from cotes du Rhône, perfect bistro wine.
We ended our dinner with two desserts, the creme brûlée and the baklava with pistachios and vanilla ice cream. The baklava is made from a family recipe, that we honestly wish we could have, it was fantastic.
To conclude, Bistro Arsenalen is the perfect spot in Stockholm to satisfy all your Parisian eat and drink cravings. It is our favourite and soon it will be yours too. Go book and dream away. Bon Appétit!
