Few industries in Sweden have been hit as hard by the COVID-19 pandemic as the restaurant sector. And they are really trying their best to survive this by all means possible. With that in mind we believe that as long as you are healthy and symptom free you should get together with your close ones and treat yourself to some well deserved dining out.
L.U.S at Faye Emmy in Gothenburg has never been better. L.U.S, referring to ”Lunch Utan Slut” (Lunch without ending) is a brilliant way to cope with the current restrictions limiting restaurants to close at 8pm. And let's be honest, don’t we all love long lunches that slowly moves into early evening, we sure do at least. It is something about it, something almost forbidden, as if you are going against the norms of society, screw all conventional ways of dining. Perhaps a bit over-exaggerated but you get the point.
During our recent visit to wonderful Gothenburg we had to stop by Faye Emmy for a proper L.U.S. And we were more than taken care of, our reservation was at 12 pm and we left just before 8pm, extremely satisfied.
We started off by going all in on the decadence, the duck liver mousse, 12 oysters for sharing and the crown jewel, black caviar with icing cold vodka, what else? The duck liver mousse was absolutely fantastic and made us dream of France, a proper bulls eye!
Besides vodka, that everyone in our company wasn’t too keen on, we drank a great white wine along with our treats, it was a suggestion and it did not disappoint. We love great service and staff, and everyone at Faye Emmy is certainly up in the major leagues.
After snacking and drinking we moved on to the main courses, the pappardelle truffle pasta, the fish soup and the carpaccio was our first targets, all very balanced in and cooked with precision. So much that we decided to also order the aubergine stew with tomato foam, a dish that really surprised us, rich in flavour and freshness. All the mains we tried were delicious and we felt that we could have picked anything on the menu blindfolded and become equally satisfied. That is truly great cooking.
As the gloomy January day made its transition from day to evening we ventured into the sweet section of the menu, one waffle with with cloudberry and whipped cream, one cornetto with a tiramisu filling and lastly some biscotti. We all drank a very interesting and tasty wine from Domaine Fumey-Chatelain, Jura, Vin Jaune, we highly recommend you to try it! A perfect ending to a perfect L.U.S, and for some reason if felt very comforting eating a waffle with cloudberry and whipped cream, exactly what we wanted, to be comforted and taken care of. That Faye Emmy did with excellent from start to finish, we are sure to visit soon again.
