Restaurant Tips: La Girafe Stockholm

Counting the dots at La Girafe, perfect for cozy fall dinners.

We decided to take a closer look at the dots of the newly opened La Girafe, located at Fleminggatan 39, Kungsholmen. La Girafe is the latest addition to famed chef Pontus Frithiof empire and a fresh addition to a somewhat dull area in Kungsholmen. The restaurant takes inspiration from Parisian bistros and serves dishes with heritage from all over France. Come for breakfast and stay for dinner, a concept that has been ever more usual in Stockholm. And who are we to disagree, La Girafe feels equally right for a “treat yourself breakfast” as for a business lunch (covid proof).

Having spent an unhealthy amount of time in solitude lately it was a pleasure to dress up and take a mental trip to Paris. We started with two signature Aperitif La Girafe and some snacks; Boquerones, potato chips with roe and some bread with carrot hummus and a shallot butter that we easily could have eaten with a spoon. Following we had the French onion soup and a beef tartar, yes we love tartar, it was clearly inspired by North African cuisine and flavor and we absolutely loved it. For main we had the suggestion, the veal schnitzel with parmesan butter and the leg of lamb with couscous, merguez and a parsil and mint salad. Both dishes met our expectations and beyond, and we loved the flavor combinations.

Even though we were quite full we could simply not resist to order dessert, we had to try the crème brule but also a Parisian favorite that we haven’t seen before in Stockholm, Pineapple “Flambée au Rhum '' and coconut cream. This is no doubt a somewhat “heavy” dessert with rum flavor but trust us it is well worth it. What can we say, Pontus has done it again, we love the food and we love the vibe. Go book a table and eat your cozy “Parisian” fall dinners at La Girafe.
