Nordiska Kompaniet launches Tom Dixon's latest collection CLOUD with an exclusive decoration of the works in the department store's shop windows in Stockholm and Gothenburg. The collection consists of four hand-made vessels in polished aluminum braised by India's most skilled craftsmen.
Nordiska Kompaniet presents Tom Dixon's latest collection CLOUD for the first time as a world first. The marking of the collection was celebrated with a 24-hour event where Tom Dixon himself was present via a hologram. CLOUD consists of four handmade works with unique properties, a dish, a bowl and a smaller and larger vase, polished aluminum is reflected in the handshake. The craftsmanship has been hammered and braised by carefully selected craftsmen in India. All to recreate the amount of work behind the vessels remains every hammer blow and dent from the stretching and twisting of the metal in the design. The organic shape has been inspired by seed capsules and the material, which is completely water-resistant, makes it possible to fill the vessels with both sturdy flower arrangements and to put the champagne on cooling.
- I have long worked with metals and a fascination with panel beating as a craft. CLOUD shows that a work of art to be perfectly created, without pits and welds from the manufacture will be visible. The method behind the craft creates unique labels and is left visible as a tribute to the craft, says Tom Dixon.
